“Why aren’t I allowed to do something special for him?” You pouted as Tsuki nosed through your wallet. “Because you’re both hopeless romantics and you’ll want to do something big and flashy. You’ll also want to keep a secret and what if your plans clash? This is in your best interests. All you have to do is tell me your idea and I’ll make things happen.” “What about Yunho?” “Woo Bin and the boys already forced it out of him and made Yunho swear he wouldn’t try to pull anything.” Your lip jutted further out if possible.
“Fine. But why’re you going through my wallet?” “Taking all your credit and debit cards that’s why.” Shoving all your cards in her purse, she took out a card and grabbed your hand. “This is a card loaded with your money, about 300,000 won. This is all you have to buy a present for Yunho with.” She slapped the card in your hand, closing your fingers around it.
“You anniversary falls on Wednesday after next but don’t worry, we’ve got this all under control. All you have to do is show up pretty with your gift. Okay?” “But why’re you all doing this?” “I already told you! Now I have to go make a few appointments and rush back for my lecture okay?”
“Jagiya…” Looking away from the stove, Yunho was leaning against the doorway of the kitchen, hands shoved into the pockets of his suit. His expression was gentle with a hint of admiration, but you could see the lust in his eyes. “Yes?” You replied nonchalantly, turning back to cooking. His footsteps were loud in the kitchen as you sensed him coming closer. You tried to focus on watching the food, but it seemed as his presence had completely surrounded you.
“Jagi.” His voice was low as his hands snaked their way around your waist. “What is it Yunho?” “Come on. Woo Bin isn’t here.” “I thought you wanted to wait until the day of our anniversary?” You prompted as nuzzled where your shoulder and neck joined, breathing in your scent. “Mmm. Too long. Can’t wait.” His tongue darted out suddenly and licked at your neck, a small moan being coerced from your throat.
“Yunho…” “It’s been a year jagiya.” He continued what he was doing, switching between sucking and licking. “An entire year.” One of his hands left your waist and turned the fire off from under the pot. “Yunho, I have to cook dinner.” “Hungry for you.” “That’s so lame.” You giggled. “It’s working isn’t it?” He pulled you back against his body, his warmth enveloping you.
“Do you have any idea what our friends are planning?” “Not at all.” He mumbled onto the top of your head, breathing in your scent. “You’re lying.” “I know a little bit.” He admitted. “So? What do you know?” “I’m sure it’ll be nice. I trust them.” “Are you excited?” “Very.” He squeezed you tighter, swaying the both of you side to side. There was nothing like the feeling of being in Yunho’s arms, feeling protected and safe even though there was no danger.
“Do I get a hint of my gift?” “Only if you give me a hint of yours.” You laughed as you moved to turn the fire back on. “I can’t wait jagiya.” “Me neither Yunho.”
“Everything is packed and ready to go, are you ready?” “Yup.” You didn’t feel nervous at all, not even anxious. You were eager to spend your anniversary with your husband. Tsuki instructed you that you needed to dress for warm weather and lots of moving. So you stuck to a sundress and some cute flats.
“You got your present?” You nodded, remembering that you checked your bag thrice to make sure that the velvet box was tucked away. “Okay. We’ve hired a driver to take you to your destination. As you know, you’re there from today ‘til Saturday. So enjoy the scenery or sit in the hotel all day, whatever you want.” “Thanks Tsuki.” “It was a group effort. Come on, let’s get you both out of here.”
The car ride was about two hours long, with you spending most of the ride napping on Yunho’s shoulder. He had dressed light as well, a v-neck t shirt showing his collarbones off nicely with some cargo shorts and sandals.
“Hey wake up, we’re almost there.” “You know where we’re going?” “I recognized where we’re headed a while back.” The driver pulled to the side of the road. “All right. I’ll be leaving your bags at the hotel. This is your stop.” “Thanks so much, here let me,” “Aniyo, it’s all right, I was tipped in advance. You two have a great time.” “Thank you so much sir.” You bowed as Yunho helped you out of the car.
The sun was still high in the sky as Yunho helped you out the car, his presence calm compared to your excited aura. You watched as the car drove away, taking in the town as it drove down the street.
“Come on jagiya.” Yunho gave your hand a gentle tug and you followed him down the path cutting through the woods.
Yunho was uncharacteristically quiet, being content with letting you ramble on about any and everything. From colleges WooBin had been accepted into, to how your students were doing in school. He seemed a bit distracted, well not really distracted. His attention was solely on you, but not on what you were saying.
“Yah, why do you keep staring at me like that? And just where are we going? You didn’t get us lost did you?” “We’re not lost.” He chuckled heartily. His expression was almost lovestruck and you fidgeted under his gaze. “Quit looking at me like that.” “Like what?” he teased, tugging your hand to pull you closer.
“Like that! You know how you’re looking at me.” “I can’t see my own face.” “I’ll punch you in your face.” You mumbled. “Would you really?” “Maybe.” “You wound me.”
Tugging your hand again, he swung you in front of him, clamping his hands over your eyes. “Ah, so we’re here now?” “Just a little bit ahead. I think you’ll like it.” “You could actually keep your hands over my eyes, the sun was killing me.” He laughed at that, still leading you forward.
It was scary, being led on a bumpy dirty path, but Yunho didn’t let you stumble. He even removed one of his hands to put the other around your waist to pick you up just in case there was a small drop.
“We’re here.” “It smells amazing, where are we?” “See for yourself.” Uncovering your eyes, you blinked a few times to get your eyes readjusted to sunlight. An entire mountain of tea fields stretched up before you, almost rising into the sky. “We’re at the Boseong tea plantation.” “We are.” “I mean we’re really here.” “Yes, jagi.”
You nearly jumped up and down in excitement. It used to be just a location in Kdramas but now you were here, experiencing the beauty for yourself. “We could’ve gone somewhere nicer, we didn’t have to come here,” “I wanted to take you here.” “This was your idea?” “Well just coming to the tea fields yeah. Tsuki and the others planned all the extra stuff.” You launched yourself at Yunho who caught you easily, almost as if he expected you to come flying at him.
You shared a quick peck on the lips before he placed you down. “We should get started on climbing, huh? It’s already hot.” You nodded eagerly, tugging on his hand to get him to hurry along. You stopped at various points to take pictures and gaze at the scenery, not realizing that people were snapping pictures of you celebrate your anniversary with your husband.
It had gotten really steep near the top of the mountain, making you fumble a bit. Yunho offered to carry you, and of course you declined. He began to whine that he never gets to do the cutesy, couple stuff like he sees in movies because you’re “very tough” so you decide to indulge in his fantasy and hop on his back. Three-fourths of the way up the mountain he commented that this was similar to the mutuality of your marriage; you riding on his back while protecting him from the hot sun. You could only giggle and press a bit closer, too caught in your bliss to notice the envious stares of other couples.
“Yunho, aren’t you tired?” “A bit.” He admitted as you felt him breathe deeper. “Let me down, we’re almost there.” “Nuh uh, I wanna tell the others I carried you up the mountain.” “You started halfway.” “More than the others did.” You sighed at his logic and tried to get down, but his arms kept a strong grip on your legs that were hooked around him.
“Put me down, I don’t need you passing out.” “I won’t pass out. I want to do this.” “Why, you’re making yourself tired,” “Because you carry me lots of times ____.” “Huh?” “You’ve been like a rock…no…a column or something. Always there to hold me up. You’ve been one of my biggest supporters, to the point that I feel like I’m taking so much from you and I’m not giving enough. I want to be able to support you too. I want you to lean against me whenever you need to. I don’t want you to be strong all the time. I know what it’s like to put on the brave face when you’re breaking inside. I want to know what makes you feel weak so I can help strengthen you again.”
Taking the final step, he reached the top and turned around, letting you gaze down at the rows of green and into the horizon. “I want you to depend on me too.” He knelt a little and gently lowered you to the ground. You were quiet as you fixed your dress, trying to fight the burning in your cheeks. “Did I embarrass you jagi?” “No.” you mumbled, not sure if your voice would betray you. You could feel your throat tightening and tears stinging at the corners of your eyes.
“Did I make you cry?” “No!” You protested. “It’s just really pretty out here!” Yunho took your face into his hands and forced you to look into his eyes, gentle as ever. “Go ahead and laugh.” You grumbled. “Why would I laugh?” “Because I’m a big baby.” You sniffled. “Who falls for sappy, cheesy words like yours.” you wished he would let go of your face so you could at least fan yourself, you really needed to calm down.
“I just know how to say what I feel.” He gently rubbed carefully at your tears, making sure not to ruin your makeup. That wanted to make you cry more. “Dry your eyes, we still have to take a picture showing we made it to the top.” You could hear people “awing” and giggling under their breath. “They’re laughing at me.” “Because you’re cute.” “Because I’m crying like a kid.” “Nothing wrong with that.” “You’re sappy and I hate you.” “I love you too.”
He stood straight again, waving over an innocent bystander and handing him a camera. Facing both of you with your backs to the tea fields, he leaned to put his head on your shoulder, arms wrapped snuggly around you. “Smile jagi.” “Hana…dul…set!” Just before the shutter clicked, Yunho kissed you on the cheek. “You’re so greasy, have you been hanging out with Chun lately?” “Maybe?” he laughed as he thanked the stranger for taking the picture. “Come on, let’s take a selca.”
Wrapping his arm around your waist, he brought you close and held the camera at just the right angle. “Hana…dul…” before he could say set, you turned to peck him on the cheek, but ended up kissed him on his smiling lips instead. You heard the shutter click and knew he had gotten the picture. “Yah!” Ignoring you with a pleased smile on his face, he turned the camera around, to look at the picture. “This needs to be framed.” He grinned while looking at you.
“Lemme see.” “Nope.” He placed the small digital camera back in his pocket and reached for your hand. You kept it out of his reach with a pout, but there was a smile on the corner of your lips and he saw it. “Jagiya.” He tried to keep his voice stern but he was failing, a joking tremble in his voice. “Ne, husband?” “Let’s go.” “Maybe I don’t want to.” “Don’t make me embarrass you in front of all these people.” He smirked and you wondered just what he would do.
You were already embarrassed from crying earlier and knew you would be all over tabloids come morning. “I guess we can leave now.” You said haughtily, giving your hand. He chuckled at your silliness, tugging you to where he could put his arm around you instead.
While going to some white, sandy beach with clear, pristine water was always nice, simply just getting out of town and being to yourselves was nice. All of Yunho’s CEO work was given between the others to manage so he wouldn’t have to worry about anything. Kae In managed to merge her class and yours into a super class so that your students could still learn.
The next day, you went back to the tea fields at sunrise, Yunho ready to try out his new fancy camera he packed for the trip. As much as you wanted to drag him back to bed and snuggle, you decided to indulge him and dressed for the cool morning air. The sunrise was beautiful from the top of the mountain, with Yunho making sure to snap a silhouette of your profile against the sun.
The next day he found a “secret spot” to watch the sun come over the mountains, and it was nothing short of breath taking. He even surprised you by having a thermos of green tea, hot and ready that he stashed away in his bag. You both talked about whatever came to mind, content with watching the sun slowly rise into the sky as the fields first visitors began to appear. The rest of the day was spent simply walking around the town, checking out shops to buy souvenirs for your friends.
“Jagi, get up.” “Will there be a day that we don’t have to get up early? Come to bed.” You whined as Yunho gave you another shove. “But I made a reservation just for us.” He whined back, giving you another shove. “…Reservation where?” “At a spa.” He grinned. You turned your head to look at him through sleepy eyes. He was already dressed, if you could call it dressed, and ready to go. “…I didn’t know there were spas around here.” “There is one. A green tea and sea water spa. It’s supposed to be really healthy.” “…Fine.”
Any complaints of being woken at 7AM were chased far from your head as the spa waited on you, hand and foot. You had to be separated for a while, but it wasn’t so bad with masseuses rubbing you with creams and scrubs and pampering you from head to toe.
At the end of the day you rejoined Yunho and soaked in the sea water and green tea baths. After saying your goodbyes to the ahjummas at the spa, you and Yunho walked hand in hand along the beach in peaceful silence.“You been having fun?” “Yes.” You were sitting with Yunho on the bed, facing each other as you fed each other various fruits you had bought today. You had to return back home tomorrow, and were enjoying the last few moments of your anniversary together. “I’ve had an amazing time. Can I give you my present now?” “Mmm. Of course.” Rolling off the bed, you shuffled over to your bag, searching for the velvet box, you grinned when you found it.
Walking back over to the bed you moved to sit in front of him again, but he pulled you into his lap, leaning his head on your shoulder like he loved to do. “Is it a bracelet?” “No.” “Ring?” “No.” you laughed. “Here open it.” Taking it from your hands, he rolled it around in his hands a bit. He opened it carefully, revealing the silver and red necklace inside.
“I…well. Just because I married you doesn’t make me any less of your fan…and as we know, if I wasn’t your fan then I wouldn’t have met you.” You stammered, unable to see his reaction. It was a silver chain with a red balloon hanging on the end. On it was inscribed “AKTF.” “And…though we both know what always keep the faith was used for…I…want to keep the faith in us too. That nothing will tear us apart.”
Yunho was silent as he fingered the necklace in his hand. “It didn’t cost much I paid for it myself.” You left out the part where Tsuki took all your cards and gave you a temporary one with your money on it. “It was only about only 200,000 something won, no big deal.” “You paid 200,000 won for this?” he whispered, continuing to twirl it in his hands. “Yeah, like I said no big deal. Not worth nearly as much as you are to me.” He chuckled a bit, his throat sounding choked up. “I see what you mean about me sounding greasy. Here. Put it on me.” You climbed out of his lap and turned around to see him looking you with so much love you nearly felt overwhelmed. Leaning to where you could reach, you began to put it around his neck and his hand grabbed your wrist. “Yunho?” Jagiya.” He pushed forward more, making your legs unfold and pushing you on your back.
“When are we making the baby?” “You make it sound like we’re going to the mall in make it.” You chuckled. He smoothed a hand over your stomach and smiled proudly at you, brown orbs shimmering with happiness. “I love you.” “I love you too Yunho.” He leaned and kissed you on the lips, sweet and chaste. “Jagi, let’s do it now.” “Yunho, our baby will grow up to realize that nine months from his birthday, he was conceived the same month of our anniversary.” You continued to giggle as he worked on rolling your shirt up.
“Your point?” “He’ll be embarrassed.” “He won’t tell anyone then.” “He’ll never see us the same again.” “He’ll still be our kid. Just let me love you. I want to love you. I want to have you blown up like a balloon waddling around the house so I can take care of you and dote on you since you never let me. I want to hold your hand as you bring our child into the world and see that baby open eyes and you’re the first thing it sees. I want to raise that child and see it grow. And I want to do it with you jagi. I want to do it all with you.” “You’re a hopeless romantic.” You choked up as Yunho gave you another sappy smile.
“Can we? Can we now?” Yunho asked as he climbed over you. “Yes. Let’s make a baby.”
